Indian Preference in Employment
The Las Vegas Paiute Tribe exercises Indian Preference in employment practices in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, U.S. Code, Sections 472 and 473). Preference is given to qualified Native American applicants. Applicants claiming Indian Preference must submit verification of tribal enrollment or Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) with their application.
Tribal Sovereignty & Jurisdiction
As a federally recognized sovereign nation, the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe operates under its own governmental authority. All employees work on tribal land and are subject to tribal jurisdiction, policies, and ordinances. Employment with the Tribe is governed by tribal law, not state employment law.
Background Check & Drug Screening
All positions with the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe require successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation and pre-employment drug screening. Certain positions in public safety and security require additional clearance levels. The Tribe maintains a drug-free workplace policy.

NuWu Cannabis Marketplace Employment
NuWu Cannabis Marketplace operates under tribal sovereignty on Las Vegas Paiute tribal land. Cannabis-related positions are subject to tribal regulations, not Nevada state cannabis licensing requirements. All NuWu employees must be 21 years of age or older. NuWu maintains its own application process -- visit the NuWu Careers Portal for cannabis-specific positions and online applications.
